Embrace The Tank

Last night, the New York Knicks went to the Barclay's Center and Lost to the Brooklyn Nets 120-112. The Nets came into this game losing 16 straight home games. You can read that again, 16 STRAIGHT HOME GAMES. The Brooklyn Nets who now sit at 12-53. To any casual NBA fan, it is honestly hard to name anyone on the Brooklyn Nets outside of Brook Lopez. In simple terms, this team is hot garbage.

So last night, the New York Knicks did what the New York Knicks do best. They made their opponent look like a championship team! Brooklyn is the worst team in the league by far. They rank towards the bottom of the league in defensive efficiency and teams routinely put up 100+ on them each night. The Knicks have WAY more talent than the Nets. There is actually no debate on that. However, Brooklyn does one thing better than New York. They play as a team.

The Knicks can't go into next season with the team they have this year. The aging veterans and the young prospects just don't mix. Phil has done an awful job assembling the team through free agency, but his draft picks have panned out. Luckily for the Knicks, they are going to get a top 10 pick in a loaded draft!

Listen, if this Knicks loss that occurred last night was to happen say, 2 months ago, New York would have had a riot. Today, I sit here ELATED that the Knicks lost. Every loss going forward is a chance at solidifying a top 5 pick. Markelle Fultz, Dennis Smith Jr, Lonzo Ball, Jayson Tatum, Malik Monk, Lauri Markkanen, De'Aaon Fox, Miles Bridges are all going to be available in this draft for the Knicks. The Knicks need to rebuild through the draft and hit with one or two free agents. They have been competitive with top teams like the Warriors, Spurs, etc when they play them. Playing down to their opponent is just what the doctored ordered. Embrace the tank fans!

P.S. Last night was "Biggie Night" in Brooklyn. They retired the #72 in honor of the late, great, Biggie Smalls. Preposterous news. No fucking way Biggie was a Nets fan. You know he was chilling with Oakley, Mason Jr and the bad boy Knicks in the 90s. RIP Biggie.
