Ahhh one of the most anticipated music festivals of the summer has finally come through with a lineup announcement!
Every year on Labor Day Weekend, Jay-Z brings together some of the biggest names in music to throw down in Philly and it looks like this year will be no different.
Arguably, the biggest deal with this year’s festival is that Jay-Z himself will be headlining. This will be the first time Hov performs at Made In America since the first show in 2012.
As far as the headliners go, I think the choices were pretty solid. I’m not a huge fan of The Chainsmokers or J. Cole but I think both will be really enjoyable for a festival crowd on a hot summer weekend.
Some of the other things to watch for include:
- DMX — Following a worrisome performance at the recent Ruff Ryder’s Reunion show, DMX canceled all of his tour dates and checked himself into rehab. I hope that he will be good by the time Made in America rolls around, but there’s no reason to put a strict timetable on getting better.
- Solange — After releasing a critically-acclaimed album in 2016, I think her place on this poster is deserved. However, I’m unsure if her music plays well to a festival crowd. Should be interesting to see her approach.
- Mannequin Pussy — I don’t know anything about this act except that their name gave me a laugh when I was scanning the flier. Heh.
Users of Jay-Z’s streaming service TIDAL have first dibs at pre-sale tickets. I use Spotify so I can’t see how much they cost right now buuuuuut I’m pretty sure 2-day passes are around $150? Could be wrong.
Anyway, let us know what you think of the lineup. You going or nah?
