NBA Player's Association Executive Fires Back at Phil Jackson; Defends Carmelo Anthony

Oh baby, here we go!!!

-Written by Alec Baicher

A little less than 3 weeks ago, Phil Jackson came out and had his end of the year press conference and had many words about the season. Disappointed, unacceptable. not living up to expectations were phrases uttered in the press conference, but it was Phil's comments about his star player that had ears perk up around the league. Phil stated the Knicks have shown they can't win with Carmelo and he could be suited somewhere else.

Hold the phone.

Did a President of Basketball Operations of a historical franchise just say that about their star player?!?!

It's Phil Jackson. It's the Knicks. Of course it happened.

Anyone, we got some grade A trolling by Melo and some other after the comments were made, see below.

God, I love pettiness. But I am completely on Melo's side for this. Phil is a total jackass for saying those comments about his start player WHO HE RE-SIGNED AND GAVE THE KEYS TO THE TEAM TO AND WHO HAS A NO TRADE CLAUSE. Anyway, this caused a lot of backlash throughout the league and the NBA stated they would look into the comments.

Fast forward to yesterday and some decently big news came out. Michele Roberts, the NBAPA Executive Director came out and said Phil Jackson is trying to publicly shame Carmelo out of New York. Roberts stated "I think Phil was deliberately trying to shame Melo out of the city," and many players around the NBA were unhappy with these comments. Roberts continued saying "If players under contract cannot, under threat of league discipline, speak openly about their desire to be employed elsewhere, we expect management to adhere to the same standards. The door swings both ways when it comes to demonstrating loyalty and respect,"

LET'S GO!!!! To be honest, I had no idea who Michele Roberts was but I absolutely love this woman right now. Everyone and anybody needs to keep calling out Phil Jackson. I am a Melo fan through and through, but I am rational and realize it would be in his best interest to leave the team to chase a championship because we know that WILL NOT happen with Phil Jackson and James Dolan at the helm.

Phil Jackson can't forcibly be removed unless he pulls some Donald Sterling type shit, but at least with everyone being so outspoken about the atrocity that is the Knicks front office, the league can step in and certainly try to high advise changes being made. This happened with the Mets in 2011 when Selig stepped in and forced the Wilpons to hire Sandy Alderson because he knew Sandy would be able to turn the team around. He absolutely has. I believe Adam Silver really needs to take a close look at advising James Dolan to do a few things:

1. Fire Phil

2. Put Phil in a lesser role, an advisor type role

3. Sell the team

By all means, I hope and pray 1 and 3 happen, but they will most likely not. We can only hope the backlash continues and Silver is forced to step in and take action for a franchise that desperately needs it. Thank you Michele Roberts, you are starting the trend. Keep it trending Knicks fans! #FirePhil

P.S. If you don't instantly think of the Cersei Lannister "Walk of Atonement" (or walk of shame for the 21st century folks), than idk if we could be friends.

P.P.S. Knicks off season is going great! Look, Kristaps is riding quads in Latvia! What can go wrong?!

*crying uncontrollably*
